IndiaAI Mission Reaches Kerala: MeitY and Government of Kerala Launch Centre of Excellence in AI (CAIK) at Digital University Kerala

The IndiaAI Mission, led by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), is building a robust AI ecosystem across India through a network of State and Union Territory AI Centres of Excellence, compute infrastructure, skilling programmes, and responsible AI governance frameworks.

The MeitY IndiaAI Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence Thiruvananthapuram, Keralam (CAIK) was launched by Shri P. K. Kunhalikutty, Hon’ble Minister for Industries, IT and AI, Government of Kerala, on September 30. This launch marks a major step toward building a strong applied Artificial Intelligence ecosystem in Kerala by providing an AI Startup Studio, Garage and Powerhouse to contribute to India’s sovereign AI capabilities.

CAIK is established under the IndiaAI Mission of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, and the Department of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of Kerala, with Digital University Kerala as the implementing agency and Innovation Incubator Advisory Pvt. Ltd. as the industry partner. Innovation Incubator group of companies cofounded by Madhavan Padmakumar, Antony Satyadas and Umesh Harigopal in 2015, serves AI Startup founders, investors and enterprises primarily in health care and wellness, real estate and mortgage and telecom. A major milestone accompanying the launch is the announcement of CAIK’s first cohort of 15 startups, selected across the Centre’s Pre-Incubation, Incubation and Acceleration programmes. We exchanged LOIs with the Dr. Azad Moopen AI & Robotics CoE under the SAFI Institute of Advanced Studies, as well as with the Cochin Cancer Research Centre (CCRC). "Mindful Machines" a book by Max.P.Michaels was also launched at the event.
