AKMG New Jersey: 47th Annual Convention: Update from Dr.Elizabeth Mammen Prasad

Some of the highlights of 47 th AKMG Convention at Hyatt, Jersey city, NJ from August 6- 8th, 2026. A quick summary . We started the convention a Cruise on Majesty along the Hudson River celebrating 250 years of US Independence. It was nice to see the statue of Liberty up close for a photo op. It was 2 and half days of fun, connecting, networking, excellent 11 CME hours , literary forum, Womens forum on wellness, yoga, bolly wood dance workshop, arts and crafts, myil mystic fashion show to name a few of the activities . We were honored to have AMA president Dr.Bobby Mukumaala as a keynote speaker and his talk on the role of IMG s in US health care was timely in light of physician shortages to be felt by 2030. Dr.Chetan Shah president of NJ board of medical examiners and ENT specialists talked about why private practice matters , and mayor of Trivandrum , Kerala Adv V V Rajesh gave his felicitations. AKMG NEW JERSEY: DR. REKHA MENON, CONVENTION CHAIR

As we came to the conclusion of this wonderful 47th AKMG Convention, my heart is filled with gratitude. What we have experienced over these past few days did not happen because of one person. It happened because of an extraordinary AKMG family that came together with commitment, friendship, generosity, and teamwork. As Convention Chair, it is my privilege to recognize the many people who worked behind the scenes to make this convention possible. First, I would like to thank Dr. Iyer and the entire Souvenir Committee for their tremendous effort in putting together our beautiful convention souvenir. Thank you Dr.Elizabeth Mammen Prasad, Dr.Joseph Prasad, Dr.Rekha Menon, Dr.Liza Protasis and Dr.Bikram Kabir for making the AKMG New Jersey convention a memorable one after all the heart aches of planning and getting it off the ground. I happened to be in LA and visited Dr Sindu Pillai, the current AKMG USA President. As she was visiting the venue for the next USA CONVENTION August 2024 at HILTON BAY FRONT SAN DIEGO, I decided to join. It's a great place to visit. We should attend the convention and see the sights and sound of San Diego.

Hello everyone, Our Kerala Piravi celebration is round the corner and no time would be greater than now to unravel the hidden creative energy within you. Please follow the guidelines outlined below and submit your video entries through gmail to akmgkakmg@gmail.com on or before October 29, 2021. Top entries in four categories (solo male, solo female, family or couple) will be played online during our Kerala Piravi Zoom event on October 31, 2021. Winners will also be awarded special prizes during the gala night of AKMG Toronto to be held in August 2022. Audio and visuals should be based on recordings or sound bites from Malayalam movies, movie songs or skit. A maximum of four participants are allowed for group performances. 42ND AKMG Convention Report

Prepared by Shreya Sunil On August 13-14, the Association of Kerala Medical Graduates (AKMG) held their 42nd Annual Convention at the Intercontinental Hotel in Buckhead, Atlanta. The three-day event led by AKMG’s President, Dr. Subrahmanya Bhat, was attended by almost 500 members of the organization. The 2021 AKMG Convention enabled the members and guests of AKMG to mingle, reminisce, and enjoy a multitude of events organized by the AKMG Georgia Chapter. The Convention coincided with the Kerala celebration of Onam as well as the 74th Independence Day of India. The Convention was kicked off on the evening of August 13th at the Intercontinental Hotel Buckhead with a colorful procession of traditional Kerala music instruments, Chendamelam, Muthukuda and Thaalapoli led by the ancient King of Kerala, Mahabali/ Maveli.
